Required Documents

• One passport photo, identification card, fee
  • ※ Minors under 18: a legal agent should apply and submit the basic certificate and family relation certificate in the name of the passport holder.
  • ※ A person who has yet to fulfill their military service or is serving military: an overseas traveling permit, other documents related to military service
  • ※ If the expiration date of your passport has not passed, please bring the passport.

Passport Application

• A person who is 18 years old or more must apply for a passport directly.
  • ※ A proxy request is available in these following cases : when a person has a physical or mental illness, disability, or is going through an accident so that he/she cannot apply for him/herself (documentary evidence : a medical certificate or a referral from a specialist), or a minor under 18 years old.

Fees for Issuance of Passport

Guide to Issuance of Passport

• Preparation at the time of receipt: identification card, proof of application
  • ※Receipt by an agent: identification card of the passport holder, agent’s identification card, proof of application and power of attorney
• Receipt by registered mail: only for those who wish passport issuance through registered mail (It will be accepted when you apply for a passport and take 1-2 days more than a pick-up at the office.)

Reissue of Passport

Reissue of passport that grants the remaining validity period

• A passport shall be granted with the remaining validity period and be reissued.
• Cases of reissue: Change (or correction) of a name (including in English), resident registration number, passport photo, lost or damaged passport, lack of pages for visa, etc.
• Fee: 25,000 KRW

Reissue of a lost passport

• Passport application form, passport photo, identification card, and reason for the loss
• Applicants who have been reissued at least twice within the last five years as of the date of application will be investigated by the police station of their local jurisdiction.

Reissue of a damaged passport

• Passport application form, passport photo, identification card, statement of reasons for passport reissue, and damaged passport
• Exemption of fees for reissuing a damaged passport due to defects in the passport

Reissue due to the correction of a name, resident registration number, etc.

• Passport application form, passport photo, passport, statement of reasons for passport reissue, and documentary evidence of correcting a name or resident registration number

Reissue due to change of a name in English

• Passport application form, passport photo, passport, identification card, statement of reasons for passport reissue due to change of a name in English, and documentary evidence
• Please inquire since changes due to the correction of a name in English will not be available unless permitted by passport law.
